Generation Y in the workplace

I read this great article in FORTUNE Magazine today. I can totally relate to this, especially the part about having relationships with your immediate supervisors.

The article is called "You Raised Them, Now Manage Them". If you were born between the years 1977 and 1995 this is a great article to read.

Hmmm...an interesting take from "one of us".

In a general sense I agree with a good deal of it. What it says to me more than anything is that Gen Y is a spoiled, "me me me", "I want..." generation. A generation so self-absorbed that even though we are advancing business and taking progress to new heights, at some point it is all going to come crashing down. For now we have our parental generation existing as a foundation. What happens when they are no longer there?

Two verses in Ecclesiasties ring true:
5:10 - Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

4:4 - And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man's envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

There will continue to be a lot of dissatisfied people, sooner than later, because they are going to rise to the top and find out that there's still no fulfillment there.
